Conditions

What is wrong with my foot?

Straight answers about the conditions we treat: what it is, who gets it, what we do about it and what to expect. Every condition also has a page written for clinicians, which you are welcome to read.

Surgery

Morton's neuroma

Morton's neuroma is a thickening of the nerve that runs between the long bones of the foot, most often between the third and fourth toes. It causes burning pain, tingling or a feeling of a pebble under the ball of the foot, usually worse in narrow shoes.

Musculoskeletal & Sports

Plantar heel pain (plantar fasciitis)

Plantar heel pain, usually called plantar fasciitis, is pain under the heel that is worst with the first steps in the morning or after sitting. It comes from overload of the thick band of tissue that supports the arch. Most cases settle with the right loading program.

Achilles tendinopathy

Achilles tendinopathy is pain and stiffness in the large tendon at the back of the ankle, brought on by more load than the tendon can cope with. It is common in runners and in people over 40 who have increased their activity. A structured strengthening program is the core of treatment.

Skin & Nail

Ingrown toenail

An ingrown toenail is a nail edge that has grown into the skin beside it, usually on the big toe. It causes pain, redness and often infection. Early cases are treated conservatively; nails that keep recurring are fixed permanently with a short procedure in our rooms.
